Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced turning to personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but where most only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of getting 12 of the 41 main guns found within the game.

Several of these gated guns might eventually earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and only works at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, within the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is tough enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when doing the challenges in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It is expected if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

Currently, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, hoping for a less arduous gaming experience in future updates.
