Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games already confirmed for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
